In the wild these lizards range from the Arabian Peninsular and Saharan Africa.
They can be found in the desert and therefore like hot temperatures.
The Egyptian Uromastyx is considered a herbivore although some have been known to
eat the odd insect. Cleo eats a variety of green leafy plants and also enjoys grated
butternut squash, peas, beans, carrot and sweet potato. As well as this she also
has a constant supply of finch seed.
They have a strong spiny tail which they will use to hit potential predators if
they feel threatened. They usually sleep with the tail sticking out of the entrance
to their burrow so that they can fend off intruders.
Cleo can often be seen licking anything she comes across. They use taste to check
out their surroundings.
Cleo is a very calm lizard and is happy to be handled by almost anyone.
